A Variety of Creative Gas Prices
SacTV.com "Video of the Day" review by

Gas prices turn out to vary even within a city, depending on where you buy your gas. This SacTV video looks
at the various gas prices at the same intersection and just a few miles away on July 5, 2012. The prices
ranged from $3.43 to $3.76 per gallon for regular unleaded. Of course, if you're buying ten gallons of gas,
that's a difference of over a couple of bucks that may have been spent on a drink. Some people are unaware
that some gas stations are drinking their cash. Checking with GasBuddy.com on the SacTV.com homepage,
the national average for regular unleaded gas prices on this day was $3.40 per gallon while the average in
Sacramento was $3.60.
At the intersection of Fair Oaks Boulevard and Watt Avenue there was a tale of four gas stations. Arco AMPM
was the only station to come near the national average, selling gas at $3.43, while Shell's price was $3.69,
Conoco/76 was $3.65 and Chevron was $3.69. Not far away at the intersection of Arden Way and Eastern Avenue
Valero's price was $3.67 while locally-owned Scott's Corner had among the highest price in the county
at $3.76. According to GasBuddy.com prices Sacramento prices ranged from $3.38 to $3.79. The reason Arco
sells gas cheaper is that it's a different kind of gas called "EC unleaded," which is designed to cut
down emissions as well as cost of gas. Taking a cue from Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, it pays to "Shop Around."
